The international hairdressing contest known as The ABS Global Image Awards celebrates the passion and artistry of professional and emerging stylists in an image and video competition that features professional and student categories. Back by popular demand, this year’s competition offers participants from across the globe the opportunity to enter their fiercest hair collections and storytelling.

Contest Rules

THE QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY

ABS Global Image Award categories are open to all licensed salon professionals, nail technicians and barbers or the business equivalent where licensure is not required.

The Student categories are open to students currently enrolled in a cosmetology school or the equivalent as of the entry deadline of January 15,2023.

Each category must include three (3) separate images of three (3) different models. - Each entry much include a “Behind the Scenes” video up to 30sec long showing how the look was created.

THE COMPETITION RULES

All categories are gender neutral.

- High-resolution photo (300dpi) of the artist/s must accompany every entry.

- Review each category description for details on specific images to submit as they differ by category.

- Entry forms must be completed in full and can include a brief artist statement for each category entered, though it is not required but highly encouraged to tell your story.

- Each model photographed, photographer and team must upload a model release form, or the entry will be disqualified.

- A small group can enter the Team Collaboration Category only. Team Collaboration submissions cannot be entered in any individual categories. 

- To maintain an unbiased judging system entrant(s), models & photographers agree not to publish, post or distribute their images or videos until after the Finalist Announcement on February 14, 2023 or risk disqualification.

IMAGE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Submit ONLY electronic files, saved as jpg at 300dpi or higher and as large as 8 x 10”.

- Entry materials will NOT be returned and become the property of Cosmetologists Chicago®.

- Videos can be in the following format and no more than 100mb

.avi, .mov, .mkv, .mpg, .mpeg, mp4, .m4v, .flv
