T-Swift’s BFF sure knows how to SHINE! From Victoria’s Secret Angel to budding computer programmer, supermodel and YouTube sensation Karlie Kloss is an unstoppable force of beauty and an inspiration to many. Oh, and can we talk about her flawless caramel tresses?
To create a beautiful, caramel-kissed highlighted effect like Kloss, work with COLOR.ME HIGH.LIFT shades (HL100, HL108, HL101) which create unique golden tones throughout the hair without going too light. The trick when using the HIGH.LIFT shades, according to COLOR.MASTER Marsha Moran, is to understand how to neutralise the underlying pigment at your starting depth to create that perfect caramel shade your blondes are looking for. For example, if you have a natural depth of a 6 like Karlie, your underlying pigment is orange. Choose shades with an ASH reflect to neutralise this warmth when lifting to create a natural caramel finish. “I always love adding my SOFT.VIOLET.BOOSTER to soften the brightness of the lift without over toning the end results,” Moran notes.

Ready to gloss like a boss Kloss? Follow Moran’s step-by-step to recreate the star’s glossy caramel locks:
- Apply a combination of HL101 + 20% SOFT.VIOLET.BOOSTER + 40 VOL. CREAM.ACTIVATOR mixed in a 1:2 ratio in fine babylights around the face to draw attention to the eyes.
- Every third foil, apply CREAM.LIGHTENER + 20 VOL. CREAM.ACTIVATOR to brighten the overall look with a few creamy blonde highlights.
- Wash and rinse the hair (I love using the KEVIN.MURPHY REPAIR line).
- Dry and style as desired. Finish with SHIMMER.SHINE to enhance and strengthen.
