What a way to accessorize a braid! We are in love with this masterpiece of a plait by none other than Efi Davies. She created this whimsical look inspired by Greek Mythology at Ekaterina Kukhareva SS17 and we have a feeling we’ll see touches of this trend popping up all season long.

Inspired by Nereids, beautiful young girls of the sea in Greek Mythology, Ekaterina Kukhareva has created a mysterious and unique presentation for her SS17 collection. The ready-to-wear pieces all feature intricate designs and patterns in a striking turquoise, baby pink and coral palette, with hints to the Pantone colors of the year. To add a modern edge, the hair has been braided into three-strand braids with woolen fabric entwined into it, to create the illusion of coloured dreadlocks.

“The carefree, fun nature is represented in the light and airy fabrics used in my collection. Each piece is individual like Nereids, and the girls wearing them”  - Ekaterina Kukhareva, Designer

The Hair

“The brief for the hair was to create a whimsical and mysterious mermaid effect, but it was important for the reality not to be too literal. To keep the look modern and young, we decided to dramatically extend the length of the hair with Ekaterina’s fabric to add an edgier feel and used label.m products with plenty of texture to give a less sleek finish”  - Efi Davies, International Artistic Director, TONI&GUY
