The latest collection by Enrique Serrano titled MA-RI holds a special place in the artist’s heart — it is a tribute to his sister, who he lost due to an illness. Representative of his Basque culture, Mari or Maddi is the main goddess of Basque mythology, a female divinity who lives in the peaks of the Basque mountains and represents Mother Earth, the one who provides everything. This collection awarded him his first international recognition at the ABS Global Image Awards 2023 in Chicago. He presents the new luxury brand for hair Li:OH and dedicates these images to his sister and his city, Bilbao.

As the main goddess in Basque mythology, she is related to fertility, food, crops and rain. She also means justice, severity, generosity, kindness, beauty, respect, values and attitude. All this mythological inspiration is transported by the hairdresser to the great Bilbao, a suggestive city, with that strong image and with such a characteristic style that it does not go unnoticed.
The collection was shot with the beautiful and suggestive city of Bilbao as a backdrop, MA-RI shows proposals for everyday life, with which women can identify. Hair takes to the streets with all kinds of shapes and textures, from the softest to the most frizzy and rebellious, imitating hair full of moisture, very common in the city, where water is the main part. This collection, so personal, is a clear example of how a grey and dark city can be transformed into a modern and stylish one, and this is reflected in each image created. Short afros, bobs, natural updos and blunt waves with bangs, a fusion of wearable and real looks to flatter any hair style with quick and easy techniques. The result was timeless looks in which naturalness and simplicity prevail, and whose aim is to emphasise the real beauty of each woman, so that she feels favoured beyond specific fashions.

Winning this award, Enrique Serrano has become the only professional from Spain to win one of the prized titles at this year's ABS Global Image Awards. In addition to being the only European representative, which positions him as one of the industry's international benchmarks.
Adding to the amazing news, this year the Salón Gaudí team is about to open its second showroom, in the town of Getxo (Vizcaya). This second space, of 120m2, will be located in the centre of Bilbao, opposite the Guggenheim Museum.
