There is a chill that has entered the air and we can feel summer and the trends that go along with that season fade into the distance. As we begin to pull out our best knits and boots, our attention now turns to the latest Autumn/Winter 2021 hair trends to match the mood. This season there are quite a few taking the hairdressing industry by storm. AW2021 will be a fresh take on the trends we’ve seen in the past. After 18 months of closures, little to no appointments, and clients left to detox from hair colour, they are looking forward to getting back to the salon and making each season spectacular by embracing something new and exciting.

Unlike the bright and bold creative colours we’ve seen throughout the first half of the year, clients will get a little more creative in a much more subtle and muted way. This means the new trend will come down to the creative techniques used to create these gorgeous looks.

AW 2021 Colour Trends

Butterscotch Blonde

For all the blondes out there, Butterscotch blonde is the go-to colour for AW21. Soft, subtle and so incredibly beautiful, this colour is ideal for those looking for a brighter colour without the bold vibrancy of rainbow shades. Due to its tone, this shade is a very commercial colour and can be fully bespoke to each client and their complexion. There are several techniques to get the look such as freehand, highlights and even balayage for those looking for something a little bit different.

Subtle Cinnamon

We love nothing more than rich, red shades in autumn/winter and this is no different in 2021. Subtle cinnamon is already hugely popular as we approach the new season, and is a deeper take on the original cinnamon colour. A tone that is vibrant and rich, the colour can be enhanced by using two varying shades of cinnamon in order to give a two-dimensional feel. The beautiful thing about this colour for colder seasons is that it is full of warmth and creates a real statement look.

70’s Flick Fringes

In addition to these gorgeous colours, trends will look back to the ’70s once again this year, with the introduction of the 70’s flick fringes. The flick fringe is something so simple that can completely transform a style, and even take the look from day to night. This is a great way to introduce a client to a low-commitment fringe, without going for a heavy, full fringe.

Perfect Pixie

Short hair is back and we are here for it! The perfect pixie will be huge for autumn and even more so as we approach winter. Short, sharp and defined lines will be trending with hair slightly heavier on the top section to give the client a little more texture and freedom to create their own, bespoke look. Colour placement can truly enhance short hairstyles and allow clients to take more risks with their shades.
