From creating editorial collections to vibrant everyday looks in the salon — learning how to take chances and enhance the fabric of hair is a skill we learn over time and through practice. If you’re interested in expanding your skill set, Alex Thaddeus, Owner of Alex Thaddeus Hairdressing in Cupar, Scotland is sharing exactly how he created this stunning look below.

How To Get The Look:

CUT

This look was created with a unique cut using trilateral sections of varied sizes and widths to create both depth and softness within the cut. The goal was to show the contrast between layered, soft edges with a precise, cropped fringe.

COLOUR

The colour choice was influenced by dopamine! The colours used were bespoke mixtures of colours that sparked warmth, beauty and confidence in me and that Alex thought sparked joy when looking at the final colour. “Once I had pre-lightened the hair I used an 8 pointed star section to determine the weight fall of the hair, starting at the middle of the head, down to the nape of the beck, working round the temples on either side. I then took a second star section with opposing points from the top of the head. For the fringe, I started from the right temple with a wide triangular section and alternating colours in 05. inch wide pieces. I finished with a subtle root drag between 1-2 inches and blended through for a seamless finish.”

STYLE

The hair was cleansed and conditioned using Goldwell Elumen Shampoo and Conditioner and treated with Elumen Lock for five minutes. Then Kerasilk Styling Bodifying Volume Mousse was applied to damp hair to give the hair hold and definition.
