Donna Karan’s Urban Zen has proven that as a brand, it is not just made up of clothes, designs, or simply a show – this label is a lifestyle. She creates pieces that can transition from season to season, creating longevity to each look. For the show, lead stylist Michael Johnson created two key looks – a high textured bun and loose waves – each a style any girl would want to flaunt! He drew inspiration from the culture of the label,“ Donna and I agreed that we wanted the girls’ hair to be naturally textured with a slightly smoothed look to really capture the mantra of Urban Zen. The Urban Zen brand is designed to go day into night and climate to climate which is exactly what these Biolage R.A.W. Stylers do for the hair—the two go hand in hand!” He said. LOOK 1—Textured Bun
STEP BY STEP
• To prep, apply Biolage R.A.W. Smoothing Styling Milk to ease the grip of blow dry and to nourish
• Blow dry or air dry the hair by running fingers through to enhance natural textures
• Center part the hair and comb through to give the hair direction
• Create a high ponytail leaving two inches of hair from the hairline out of the ponytail
• Take the two remaining side pieces and loosely wrap it around the ponytail
• Take the ponytail and spray the Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray and lightly backcomb it
• After adding texture, pin the ponytail to create a loose and touchable bun
• Finish it off with the Biolage R.A.W. Frizz Control Styling Spray through the hair to maintain frizz and hold back flyaways
LOOK 2—Loose Touchable Waves
STEP BY STEP
• To prep, apply Biolage R.A.W. Smoothing Styling Milk to ease the grip of blow dry and to nourish
• Create a center part and comb around the hairline creating waves and giving the hair direction
• Spray with Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray to give definition then use a ¾ inch barrel curling iron to curl hair and brush the waves through to keep them soft
• Spray the Biolage R.A.W. Frizz Control Styling Spray through the hair to maintain frizz and protect from humidity
• Finish it off with the Biolage R.A.W. Texturizing Styling Spray to set and add texture to the hair
