During this time, salons and barbershops across the country have been deeply impacted, and Wella Professionals has aimed to bring you consistent education, inspiration and connection. Continuing to do so, now we must all prepare for changes to salon practices as stay-at-home orders in various cities and states begin to be lifted. While we suggest referencing CDC Guidelines and local Board of Barbering and Cosmetology as well as Health Department standards, we also want to lend a bit of support and advice once you decide it is the right time to go back to work.

Stay Connected
Utilizing online education resources is one of the best ways to continue to grow during this time. If you have a chance, be sure to tune into the Survival Guide by Wella Brand Educator Kelsey Higginbotham. She shares helpful tips and tricks for staying inspired and helping clients deal with at-home hair issues. Apart from connecting with them through social media or one by one, Kelsey suggests offering Wella Professionals Color Fresh kits to them! This semi-permanent color is safe, gentle, ammonia-, peroxide-, and alcohol-free and is already specifically tailored to be used by clients at home. Lasting up to 10 washes, with 30% grey coverage, it is a great option to ensure clients stay away from box-dye.
Safety precautions when returning to the salon
Standards and guidelines vary based on state, region, and city. While it is always best practice to stay up to date with safety guidelines set forth by the CDC and your State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, referencing the BARBICIDE Back-To-Work Plan and completing the online BARBICIDE Certification course is also a great place to start. Full of useful reminders and checklists it can take some of the stress out of the equation.
