Whether you’re heading into spring, or waiting for the chill of fall to commence, we’ve got the top tips to pair with your favorite statement accessories. ELEVEN Australia’s Co-Creative Director, and three-time Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Joey Scandizzo shares his tricks for styling your hair to accompany your style.
A wide hat: go sleek
“A sleek, low ponytail is always chic and timeless. This will be the perfect hairstyle for a wide hat as your hair will remain intact for post-races celebrations,” Scandizzo said.
How to achieve this look:
1. Wash and condition hair with ELEVEN Australia Smooth Me Now Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner, a shampoo and conditioning powerhouse to control and strengthen hair
2. Using 1-2 pumps of Miracle Hair Treatment, apply this to the ends of your towel-dried hair to moisturise hair and protect against heat styling
3. Blow dry hair straight using Medium Roll Brush and then use a Flat Iron to straight hair and ensure it is sleek
4. Apply 1-2 pumps of Smooth & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum to mid-lengths and ends of hair to tame frizz and add shine
5. Pull hair into a low ponytail at the base of the neck, using an elastic to secure. For a more finished look, pull a very small section of hair from the ponytail to wrap around where the elastic is secured. Lock this section of hair into place with bobby pin
6. Spray Give Me Hold Flexible Hairspray to hair to ensure any flyaways are kept at bay
Hair brooch: perfect for an up-style
“Wearing a glamorous hair brooch is best suited to an up-style where both the brooch and hair shine equally,” Scandizzo said.
How to achieve this look:
1. Prepare hair by using the dynamic hydrating duo, Hydrate My Hair Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner
2. Using 1-2 pumps of Miracle Hair Treatment, apply this to the ends of your towel-dried hair
3. Blow dry hair, building body, using Large Round Brush
4. Apply Dry Powder Volume Paste to the roots of hair to create volume and texture
5. Separate hair into two sections, similar to pigtails, at the crown of the head, then wrap these sections around each other creating a bun and secure hair with bobby pins
6. Pull a few strands loose at the front of the face to create a soft feminine shape and then attach the brooch either to the side or top of the bun
Headbands: be daring and embrace your natural texture
“Complement your natural hair texture with a statement headband. This will give you enviable 70’s vibes by the track.”
“Accentuating your natural hair texture is one of the biggest hair trends for spring and summer, and will be huge for Spring Racing,” Scandizzo said.
How to achieve this look:
1. Shampoo and condition hair using the I Want Body Volume Shampoo and Conditioner, a lightweight duo that will create volume, shine and body
2. Using 1-2 pumps of Miracle Hair Treatment, apply this to the ends of your towel-dried hair
3. Use Sea Salt Texture Spray to the roots of hair to accentuate natural texture and blow dry hair upside down to create a natural fullness to your hair
4. Once hair is dry, spray I Want Body Texture Spray to the roots and mid-lengths of hair to create extra body in hair and ensure it will have staying power throughout the day
5. Spray Make Me Shine Spray Gloss lightly all over hair for the perfect glossy finish
6. Sit headband on top to finish off the look
