The Met Gala is all about being extra for an evening, and while some took the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” for what it was, others went above and beyond to channel his likeness or pay homage to him or his dear Choupette. Most wore black, white and pearls while others stood our in pink and red. There was lots to love on the “red” carpet, and with the help of Matrix we’re diving into two of the standout styles: Julia Garner and Lil Nas X.

Get The Look: Julia Garner by Bobby Eliot for Matrix
Wearing a custom Gucci gown with a high collar, pearls, and a cape that gave a peek-a-boo of pink. “Julia is wearing Gucci this year. Her look is regal! We wanted to keep the hair feeling herself and do something timeless and beautiful to not compete with the dress,” adds Eliot.
The Steps:
- Start with freshly washed towel-dried hair. Then cocktail a mixture of Matrix’s NEW Setter Mousse and Controller Gel, along with its NEW Food For Soft Multi- Use Hair Oil Serum and apply from roots to ends. - Use a large diffuser and dry the hair, being careful not to touch the hair as much as possible.
- When the hair is completely dry, use a variety of different sized marcel curling irons to create her curls.
- Apply a dime sized amount of Matrix’s Food For Soft Muti-Use Hair Oil Serum. For best results warm the oil up in your hands and then shake out the curls to loosen everything up.
- Finish with a spritz of Matrix’s Fixer Hairspray to set the hair and lock everything in place.
Get The Look: Lil Nas X by Coree Moreno for Matrix
Singer, songwriter, and internet icon Lil Nas X made an entrance at the MET Gala honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld. His avant-garde look continues to be at the top of the best-dressed list as many are saying he stole the show. While he was covered head to toe in silver body pant and perfectly placed pearls, Lil Nas X made sure his natural curls stayed hydrated thanks to Coree Moreno for Matrix.“For this look Lil Nas X went bold with a feline inspired metallic crystal look from head to toe. With his whole body covered in silver, we needed his hair to shine like the ensemble but remain natural to provide contrast. We opted for luscious and ultra-hydrated curls to frame the headpiece,” said Moreno.
The Steps:
