As hairstylists, we are constantly looking for new ways to push the boundaries. From coming up with new techniques behind the chair to challenging our artistic abilities with competition work. The most prestigious of professional beauty competitions, the annual North American Styling Awards are held annually and the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is so excited to announce the opening of the 31st annual NAHA deadlines!
NAHA is the premier platform for beauty professionals to push their boundaries and bring their artistic vision to life. Entry for NAHA 2020 opens June 6th, 2019 and closes August 8th, 2019 at 9pm EDT/6pm PDT.
Artists are encouraged to submit their collections to any of fifteen categories of excellence spanning across hair, makeup and nail artistry including: Avant-Garde, Haircolor, Haircutting, Hairstylist of the Year, Makeup Artist of the Year, Master Hairstylist of the Year, Men’s Hairstylist of the Year, Nail Professional of the Year, Newcomer Stylist of the Year, Salon/School Design of the Year, Student Hairstylist of the Year, Styling & Finishing, Team of the Year, and Texture.
Those with existing portfolio work are encouraged to enter the Editorial/Session Stylist of the Year category, which features outstanding work previously published in a consumer publication available for purchase on newsstands or online and does not require creating a new NAHA collection.
NAHA submissions are judged online, in multiple rounds, by a blind panel of judges. The judging process is completely anonymous with no contact between judges or knowledge of artist names to ensure anonymity and fairness during the judging process.

Interested in becoming a NAHA Judge?
The Professional Beauty Association invites beauty industry professionals to apply to become a judge for NAHA 2020. PBA is seeking judges for next year’s event to continue a legacy of fairness, diversity, and elevation of the beauty industry. Judging applications will be accepted from May15th to June 5th, 2019.
NAHA is a revered platform for industry artists to express their creative vision and technical abilities on a national stage. This distinguished, star-studded event features breathtaking artistic presentations, celebrity guests and endless inspiration designed to elevate the beauty industry.
Industry professionals are encouraged to apply to become a NAHA judge where they can lend their expertise and trained, artistic eye to the most prestigious event in beauty. Elected judges will be notified on July 1st and announced industry-wide on July 15th. Once elected, NAHA judging takes place online, in multiple rounds, by a blind panel. The process is completely anonymous with no contact between judges or knowledge of artists’ names to ensure neutrality during the collection evaluation process.
Judges will be challenged to evaluate NAHA entries according to new category rules and regulations. Categories span across hair, makeup and nail artistry and include: Avant-Garde, Editorial/Session Stylist, Haircolor, Haircutting, Hairstylist of the Year, Makeup Artist of the Year, Master Hairstylist of the Year, Men’s Hairstylist of the Year, Nail Professional of the Year, Newcomer Stylist of the Year, Salon/School Design of the Year, Student Hairstylist of the Year, Styling & Finishing, Team of the Year, and Texture.
