With Soap Nails and the naked manicure being at the forefront of nail trends (and Taylor Swift being at the forefront of everything else), this “So Long, London” inspired mani is the next progression of easy, effortless, and chic. The ever-so-slight shimmer makes this nail look the literal embodiment of “I’m just getting color back”.
Will we be preparing for bold and bright shades mid-summer? Maybe. But for right now we are obsessed with this simple and elevated take on natural naked nails.
So Long, London Nails
Get The Look:
1. Shape Your Nails
- Trim your nails to your desired length and then file to shape them — a gentle oval or square shape works well for this look.
2. Prepare Your Cuticles
- Soak your hands in warm, soapy water for a few minutes to soften your cuticles then gentle push them back and trim any excess with a cuticle trimmer.
3. Buff
- Gently use a nail buffer to gently buff the surface of your nails to create a smooth surface for the polish. Once you’re done, rinse them and blot dry to prep for your base coat.
4. Apply Base Coat
- *Note: Working in thin layers is key to getting the look. Apply a thin layer of base coat to each nail and allow to dry completely before moving to the next step.
5. Choose Your Tone
- Apply the first thin coat of nude or your chosen color of nail polish. Start with a stroke down the middle of the nail, then one on each side. We suggest applying 2-3 thin coats total with plenty of time between each layer for them to dry completely. If you’re creating the So Long, London look, this may mean, 2 coats of a nude tone and then a single layer of a sparkly accent tone or 1 coat of each depending on the depth and amount of shimmer you desire.
6. Always Apply A Top Coat
- Once your polish is completely dry, apply a thin layer of a top coat. This will seal in the color and add shine.
