I am loving that accessorizing your hair is trending. It can really make even the simplest style pop. Gigi Hadid’s Met Gala style was classic with just that middle part and some combs on the side. Your hair can start off as a big hot mess and you throw a jeweled hair pin in it and boom! your style has been elevated! Think Kerry Washington (although it wasn’t really a hot mess and I would kill for hair like hers.) A few suggestions on how to translate some of the Met Gala looks for everyday life - I love using things in unexpected ways so, I suggest going through all of your jewelry! Put that necklace on your head as a hairband similar to Bella Hadid or across the back of your head in a half up, half down style or if it’s chains, incorporate them into your braids like Jasmine Sanders. You could do either one of these styles with scarves, too! I am notorious for losing JUST 1 earring. I have a collection of these guys with no match that I refuse to get rid of. I like to take the leftover pieces and attach them to a pin and put them in my hair. To make it even more interesting, place a bunch of them together. The trend I am most looking forward to recreating myself is the golden halo. I’ve been putting bobby pins front & center in a lot of my styles lately and I’m going to work on placing them in a high bun, sticking out in varying lengths because who doesn’t want to look like Blake Lively??

Summer is here and it's a curly girls season. Toying with donning curly bangs but don't quite know how to make it work without looking like a French poodle? First things first, go to a stylist that gets curly hair. Bangs should be cut with a " tapered" not blunt end so that they fall into a soft beautiful "s" pattern. This is not something to be done at home, see a professional. Use sulphate free shampoo for coarser curls, you may consider using a cleansing conditioner. Detangle your hair with a wide tooth comb while in the shower and remove moisture by squeezing, not rubbing, with a microfiber towel (TIP: an old tee shirt works great too!). Add a frizz control serum, mousse for fine hair types or curl cream for coarse curls scrunching the product thoroughly through the hair. Pluck and shake out when dry. Don't think about your hair again 'till someone stops you to tell you they have major hair envy...

It’s an easy service to change any existing bronde, balayage or adventurous colour into a high fashion look by quick toning. It can change your image for spring summer and revamp your haircut. It works to change instantly from caramel and blonde to a more mysterious tonal palette. It can be temporary with a navy blue/denim, which would fade up to a greeny blue then pale greens and lighter on a pre-lightened blonde, so the journey out is really interesting too. You’d need to pre lighten to get a really blue base. It’s an ageless colour, I have clients in their 60s wearing denim blue in small fashion placements of hidden colour so it just peeks through, while teens and twenties/thirties can wear a more vibrant version. If it suits your character and make-up you can wear it. You’ll see a movement on the street to people wearing as a fashion statement. Make-up wise, it can be nice to leave it fresh and nude on the face with a strong look like this.

With the BOB / LOB being a huge haircut over the past 12 months I see it evolving into a more textured grown out shape. Bob’s are great at a BOB length, but once they grow out they start to hang, especially at the front. The Catwalks lately have being bombarded with soft textures and simple patterns. To emphasis the hair has also being soft, sexy and textured. To give your grown out Bob a more edgier look and to counter the hanging / zero shape at the front. Try putting in a simple long layer and point cutting and shattering the outside of the haircut. This will loosen the whole style up and give it a new 2016 feel.

In the world of color, we are seeing big changes. The time has come to go from cool brown and blond to warm brunette and copper. Play with those colors looking at what best fits your client base. If you want more depth in the complexion, work with deep darker copper tones to reflect in their skin tone. If you want to lighten it up, use light copper tones. Play with your copper tones and it will give you a wider range of color options.

I wanted to create a new, fresh look for the hair to harmonize with the urban traveler lifestyle that was showcased in the Nicholas K collection. Pulling inspiration from ancient Japanese top knots, this modernized ‘Back Knot’ style was the perfect accompaniment for the theme of the show. We kept the hair in the back of the head to keep the emphasis on the clothes while the hair added to the overall look and feel of the production.

1. Slightly dampen hair with water and create a center part all the way to the highest point of the head. Evenly distribute Macadamia Professional Foaming Volumizer from the roots to the ends. 2. Section hair from top of head to ears, combing down the part. Take back, large sections and blow dry using the diffuser and the Macadamia Professional Boar Bristle Paddle Brush. 3. For heat protection and added shine, apply Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Spray on Dried Hair. 4.Gather all hair at the nape of the neck using the paddle brush and create a tight, low ponytail. Secure the ponytail in place with an elastic and reinforce with pins. 5. Then, secure the weft of extensions onto the elastic. 6. Take a small section of the weft and hold aside. 7. With remaining hair in the pony, create a loose loop and secure with another elastic. 8. Wrap the small section of loose hair around the elastic, securing it with a pin and spray the Macadamia Professional Style Lock Strong Hairspray for Lasting Placement.

There are two ways to go about the "Braid Hawk", depending upon your hair length. If your hair is Medium Length, you will want to start from the top (near forehead) braiding downward. If your hair is long (you may need your hairstylist, a friend, or mom to help), start with head tipped down forward braiding from the base of the neck from the bottom up. Tuck end under near the crown, pinning under with hair pins. In both scenarios, pull the braids apart a bit to give it a cool, lived in look.

With each season change, we see a new hair trend emerge. Recently, it's been celebrities lopping off their coveted long locks. Now they are moving towards a welcome color trend. Most professional hairdressers who understand color knew the Ombre trend would be short lived. There are only so many color processes the hair can withstand, and eventually clients would be dealing with overexposed light ends and lusterless color. I'm happy to say the newest trend, "Tortoise or Écaille," is allowing us to bring back luxury and vitality to our client's hair with a look and texture found in nature itself; reminiscent of the colors of tree bark or the tortoise shell. A rich caramel color, paired with tones of brown, amber and honey this trend is achieved with a freedom of hand painting colors that meld together in a harmony of tonality.

Any whooo... we are simply OBSESSED.
We started seeing a trend on the runways in 2014 of contrasted black and white. There were choppy bobs in gray tones as gray was one of the strong trend projections for hair color last year. Now, we are seeing that evidence in editorial stylists’ work and are beginning to receive requests from our guests. Silver and platinum tones are a great transition for your blonde guests without a long-term commitment.

This look may require lightening to exactly the right shade first and they will know how to do it without causing damage. For natural blondes, we recommend a light subtly silver. Long fringe with a shot cut will help create Texture, Volume and Movement to your new style. Add a bunch of hairpins to a textured updo for a little extra flare.
