D2db1f444fff51f4dd0a fashion week recap men s styles

Effortless cool seemed to be the running theme throughout Men’s Fashion Week all over the globe. We saw slick parts, updated Caesar’s, long beachy texture, and refined curls all over the runways.

The John Varvatos show this year proved that athleisure is going to take a back seat to refined luxury; this goes for the hair as well. Although long, layered, messy chic, and sexy, the hair is veering away from grunge and leaning toward a 70’s vibe. With curls, fro’s, waves, and extra inches to play with, we love this upscale surfer feel. Thaddeus O’Neil also channeled this 70’s esque vibe when it came to the hair, although more laid-back in dress. This nostalgic style can easily be achieved with a bit of effort and product.

To get the look: roughdry hair, aiming at the roots to give it slight volume and bounce. Once 90% dry combine a dab of PASTE and POMADE in your palm and work through strands, starting at the ends, and scrunching to give it a slight curve. Run the blow dryer throughout one last time, using your fingers to lift the root and comb the ends with your fingers to create control and movement. For a more polished look, use a paddle brush to add shine and straighter pieces.

Tommy Hilfiger and Joseph Abboud made headway with a classic feel for spring. With cleaner lines and a tailored shape underneath all the layers, their hair mimicked their designs. It touched on hairstyles indicative of a 90’s Vogue cover, with an updated twist. Relaxed, grown out shapes, with roots in classic lines.

To achieve this updated ‘do, ask your stylist to help you grow out your hair. With softer layers and a lived-in feel, work with your natural texture and air dry your locks. Once hair is dry, add in a mixture of POMADE and CLAY to give sheen, hold, and texture. Roughing up your hair with product once it is dry will accentuate your natural texture and add body.

Childs proved that “cool guy” hair is oh so in for the spring. Laid back luster and texture for days, we love this effortlessly chic look. Although echoed in a maritime manner with Michael Kors, we’d take these shipwrecked styles any day.

To get the look, opt for CLAY for a rougher look with a smooth finish. Add a dab to your hands and rub throughout fingers, warming the product up and then apply on air-dried or diffuse-dried hair. Use your fingers to pinch and place your strands where you want them. If hair is on the curlier side (and tends to frizz) swap out the CLAY for a PASTE and finish with a spritz of HAIRSPRAY.
