With record highs on the daily and humidity out of control, blow-drying your hair is probably the last task you want to complete on your to-do list. Luckily, there is an easy way to ditch the heat this summer without sacrificing your strands. Read on to find out just how easy it is to air-dry your hair to perfection.
Condition wisely.
To keep frizz and flyaways at bay, apply a smoothing conditioner in the shower. Opt for a weightless formula to maximize volume and keep strands from falling flat as they dry.

Ditch the bath towel.
Drying your hair with a rough towel will cause even the smoothest hair to frizz. Instead, dab—don’t rub— a microfiber towel or a cotton T-shirt against your strands to absorb excess water.
Prep, then prime.
Unless your strands are extremely curly (in which case you should avoid combing altogether), use a wide-tooth comb to gently brush out any knots. Then, apply a styling product designed for your hair texture. For those with straight strands, work a volumizing mousse from roots to ends to give your hair extra lift. For those with wavy or curly hair, apply a styling gel and gently scrunch your ends to activate your natural texture.

Spray and style.
Regardless of your hair type, a good sea salt spray will add a little grit, shape and dimension to damp strands. For those with straight hair, apply a generous amount of sea salt spray from mid-lengths to ends, then braid your hair into two French braids. Allow hair to air-dry for one hour, then take out the braids and use your fingers to gently comb through the waves. For those with wavy or curly strands, apply sea salt spray, then use your fingers to twist strands away from your face. After all your hair has been twisted, gather the hair into two low buns on the sides of your head and secure them with an alligator clip or a hair tie. Allow hair to dry for 2-3 hours, then take out the buns and voila!—perfect, heat-free beach waves every time!
