Millennial Pink is having a moment. From barely-there blush to dusty rose, the delicate hue is making waves from fashion to beauty, and quickly becoming one of the season’s top hair colors. Not sure you’re ready to jump on board with the trend yet? Check out our top three reasons why pink is destined to be the hottest summer shade.
#1: It’s easy to achieve.
Unlike traditional cooler tones that require a lot of bleaching, pink does less damage to your strands and doesn’t require as much maintenance as other bright hues. “On an already-blonde client, I would tone the hair with a pearl-hued toner to eliminate any warmth, then I would apply Keune Color Craving Pink Flush,” says Keune National Educator Taylor Sellers. “I would send the client home with Color Craving so she can use it in place of conditioner to prevent fading.”
#2: The color stands out on textured tresses.
Because most blush shades are infused with an array of pink tones, the color stands out most when hair has a little texture. Sellers recommends adding some curls or waves to help highlight the multi-dimensional shade. “I would use a flat iron to create beach waves, then I would apply Keune Press Wax to style the strands,” she says, adding that she would finish with Keune Blend Volume Powder for extra texture.
#3: Men are jumping in on the trend as well.
Blush is starting to be considered a neutral, thanks to its cool undertones, so it looks edgy and modern on both men and women. For a more subtle look, stick with a light pink shade with a lot of gray tones. Our biggest tip: Opt for a pink hair color that gradually fades, such as Keune Color Craving. Whether you start with a pastel or neon tone, the hue fades to a more natural shade so it’s less noticeable when you are in need of a touch-up.
