Natural Texture Seen at Givenchy - Paris Fashion Week SS18
As Tisci passed the baton, Spring was seen mostly in black and white at Clare Waight Keller’s debut of Givenchy. The former Chloe designer unveiled a new version of herself that the fashion community had not been aware of. More in line with her personal taste, the latest Givenchy collection is – like many collections this year – a serendipitous tribute to the original design aesthetic of Hubert de Givenchy.
Paris Fashion Week - Loewe SS18
Although Jonathan Anderson’s “Elf Shoes” have been making the headlines, the Loewe’s SS18 collection that debuted in Paris was a travelers delight. His simplistic take on patchwork fashion – melding together leather, lace and knitwear – was a study in sereneness. Muted colors and pops of pastel worked beautifully with the sheer fabrics, fringe and frills. When it came to the hair Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau created a simple pony wrapped in leather, creating a symbiosis with the leather seen in the show in clothes and accessories.
Paris Fashion Week - Dior SS18
“Why have there been no great women artists?” is the quote heard around the world. A snapshot from a Linda Nolchin essay, this feminist message was a center point for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior SS18 show. Although at times misconstrued, this message is aiming to highlight the gender inequality still present within the art world. While the “We Should All Be Feminists” shirt kicked off her debut as Dior’s first female creative creator, she notes that she wants to be praised for being good at what she does [not just because she’s a woman].
