New York Fashion Week - Coach SS18
Americana is a theme seen throughout many shows at New York Fashion Week this year and as designers head back to their roots, they bring with them new styles of vintage eras. It seems as though Stuart Vevers for Coach SS18 drew upon America in the 70s for his inspiration – he introduced denim and brought back the mailbox bag and western influenced leather jackets – presenting his creations on a glittery backdrop, therefore transforming his designs for a new age crowd. The artist Keith Haring was also an inspiration for Vevers as he drew upon the playfulness of his designs to help inspire some of the spirit of the city.

Sheer layers exuded a sexy confidence with her Menswear inspired line. Shapes were juxtaposed – flowy layers mixed with structured and chic. The color palette was comprised of the most beautiful creamy pastel shades such as rose, lavender, and beige, and seemed to get more intense in hue as the show went on. Necklines danced between high and ruffled and daringly deep as the hair accentuated both.
New York Fashion Week - Calvin Klein SS18
With an updated 60’s chic-sexy, Calvin Klein made a play for the real “American” horror story. Switching up feathers for fringe and including Warhol printed tees, ink splattered jackets and faux-plastic fabrics, Raf Simons and Pieter Mulier bring the Wild Wild West to the runway and set it free. When it came to the hair, Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau worked with natural textures and updated cuts for a fearless pixie a la Mia Farrow.
